There is no single price for shipping from China. The shipment’s weight, space, route, urgency and service scope determine the charge. A current quote is more useful than a generic per-kilogram headline.
Separate the cost layers
Origin pickup and handling, international freight, destination processing and final delivery are separate cost layers. Import duties and taxes may sit outside the freight quote. Compare all layers before deciding that one option is cheaper.
Understand the charging basis
Express and air services consider actual weight and occupied space. Ocean LCL considers volume or a weight/measurement basis under the quoted tariff; FCL is based on booked equipment plus associated charges. Minimum charges can matter for smaller shipments.
Make two quotes comparable
Use the same packed dimensions, cargo description, receiving postcode, trade term and requested delivery scope. Ask for quote validity, included surcharges and exclusions. A port-only price and a duty-paid door price are not equivalent.
Improve your quote request
Send a packing list when available. If cargo is not packed, distinguish the supplier’s preliminary figures from final measurements. Include restricted-product details early so an unsuitable low-priced route is not used as the comparison baseline.
